Big card today so I will post my selections as they come. Here are today early selections:
10 Units Wake Forest -18.5 +102
As I thought, the top-tiered teams in the ACC are going to be too much for Clemson to handle. Last time out, Duke drubbed Clemson at Clemson 73-54 SU. Now they get to travel to undefeated Wake Forest (10-0 SU, 7-2 ATS). Clemson has had a mediocre start at 7-5 SU (4-4 ATS). The trend is that Clemson just can’t match-up with the premier teams. Their losses have come against strong opponents such as Duke, Cincinnati, Purdue, South Carolina. These teams do not have too many losses this season, but Clemson is winless on the Road (0-3 SU) and should continue that streak in this game. Wake Forest has dominated at Home (7-0 SU) and has scored 87 points a game. This is too much offense since Clemson has only mustered 58 points a game on the Road, 14 less than their total season average. Clemson is getting strong inside play from Junior Sharrod Ford (12 ppg, 9 rpg, 3 bpg). Mr. Ford will have a tough time inside against Wake big man Eric Williams (18 ppg, 6 rpg) and Wake will be way too much at Home.
7 Units Western Michigan -6.5 -109
Buffalo is playing well at home, especially on defense, allowing 64 ppg. They have two decent players in junior point guard Turner Battle (13 ppg, 3 apg) and 6'-9”, 240-lb sophomore B.J. Walker (5.5 rebounds pg). However, this is a bad spot for them as Western Michigan (8-1) is BIG and playing brilliant basketball. The Western Michigan Broncos are 7-2 against the spread, and terrific on the road (4-1 SU/ATS). They have three big guns in 6’-7” senior center Anthony Kann (11 ppg, 7 rpg), 6’-8” senior Mike Williams (20 ppg, 53% FGs, 7 rpg) and 6’-3” sophomore Ben Reed, who is a workhorse all over the court (20 ppg, 53% FGs, 4 rpg). WM whipped Buffalo 87-66 a year ago and will win again by double-digits with their defense, height and depth.
7 Units Pittsburgh -5.5 +103
Pittsburgh (15-0 SU, 5-3 ATS) completed its early season home games 13 and 0 SU, 2-0 ATS and now heads out for some road activity. In their league opener, Jaron Brown scored a season-high 21 points as the 15th-ranked Panthers routed Virginia Tech, 78-59. The Panthers won despite missing point guard Carl Krauser for the fourth straight game. Freshman Antonio Graves started in his place and had five assists. Pittsburgh forced 26 turnovers, blocked nine shots and held the Hokies scoreless for nearly four minutes during one stretch late in the second half. The Panthers have held their last six opponents under 60 points. The Hurricanes, shooting 48% from the field, are no slouches themselves. Robert Hite scored 27 points for the Hurricanes (10-4), who lost to NC 89-64 on Wednesday. North Carolina pounded Miami in transition, forcing 22 turnovers that led to numerous lay-ups and easy baskets. The Tar Heels shot 50 percent (35-of-70) from the field and held the Hurricanes to 37.5 percent (24-of-64). This will be no picnic for the home team.
